Lot 31: Universal Ruler/Elegant Blast
Doing a great job winning half of his 12 starts - four of those at stakes level - Universal Ruler is doing so nicely at stud with his 12 stakes winners including our very own stable super star Aztec Ruler, he has eight stakes placegetters and his 82 metropolitan winners.
This colt is a son of the four time stakes placed Elegant Blast whose sire, the late great Blackfriars, is faring so well as a broodmare sire with 14 stakes winners.
A half-sister to the Listed winner Red Blast (by this colt's sire Universal Ruler), Elegant Blast is out of the stakes placed Daughter's Charm - also dam of the globe-trotting multiple Gr.1 winning sprinter Scenic Blast (who did such a good job locally and at Royal Ascot) and the WA Horse Of The Year Gilded Venom who sadly died before reaching his peak.
This colt, whose full sister Elegant Rose ran very nicely at her recent debut, is a descendant of the prolific matriarch Sweet Rose as are 20 Gr.1 winners including Lonhro, Lankan Rupee, Grosvenor, Tavago and Empire Rose... one of Australasia's finest families.
